SkillWorks Program

HOW IT WORKS

SkillWorks, Inc. provides home study courses to water and wastewater treatment plant operators for recertification credits. Most states require licensing of treatment plant operators, and many states require that these operators participate in periodic recertification training. Eventually all states will have this requirement. SkillWorks, Inc. assists operators by making available easy to understand home study materials whose Training Contact Hours and Continuing Education Units can be used to satisfy this recertification requirement.

When you order a course from us, you will receive a package that includes all of the material necessary to earn your Training Contact Hours (TCHs) and Continuing Education Units (CEUs). The courses are designed to take the average student about one hour per TCH awarded. Do all of the work in the workbook, take the final exam, return the materials to us, and we will issue you a Certificate of Completion for a grade of 70% or better.

This Certificate of Completion is proof of your training. The date that we put on the certificate and which we report to your state recertification authority is the postal date on the package when you send it back to us.

WHAT ARE TRAINING CONTACT HOURS AND CONTINUING EDUCATION UNITS?

Many states measure training in Training Contact Hours (TCH). If you need 1 hour of training, you need 1 TCH. If you need 20 hours of training, you need 20 TCHs.

Other states use Continuing Education Units (CEU) to measure training. You earn 1 CEU for each 10 hours of training. So, 10 TCHs are equivalent to 1 CEU. 12 TCHs are equivalent to 1.2 CEUs, and so forth.

SkillWorks, Inc. has been accredited as an Authorized Provider by the International Association for Continuing Education and Training (IACET), 1760 Old Meadow Road, Suite 500, McLean, VA 22102; (703) 506-3275. As a result of their Authorized Provider accreditation status, SkillWorks, Inc. is authorized to offer IACET CEUs for its programs that qualify under the ANSI/IACET Standard.
